I've taken a bit of a blogging hiatus, so by way of update, here are a few pics and stories from the past couple weeks.
I found the banana slugs fascinating.
Then came the winding roads leading out of northern CA and into OR. My poor children seem to have inherited my propensity for car sickness, so that portion of the journey was less than enjoyable and hard on the supply of baby wipes. Our visit with my brother Lee was great. He gave us the tour of the greater Westfall, OR area, which is very large and very unpopulated.
Apparently in its heyday, Westfall was a thriving town with a stage stop, resulting in the need for a jail to house prisoners transported by stage coach....We left Honduras on April 7th and enjoyed the commercial airline system for about 24 sleepless hours before thankfully arriving in California. We spent a few days with Josh's Dad and family. Aunt Syd and Aunt Cade had spring break that week, so we got to spend some good time together. We toured the Jelly Belly factory, which was lots of fun. Unfortunately, the camera didn't make it, so you'll just have to image the group shots of us in front of intricate murals of such celebrities as Ronald Reagan and Elvis fashioned entirely from Jelly Bellies. Guildy had been looking forward to this outing for quite sometime, and she kept comparing the Jelly Belly factory to the candy factory in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," which, if you haven't seen it, is a fantastic 1960's kids movie that seems to be a cross between James Bond and Mary Poppins.
We then spent a few days with Josh's mom and and stepdad in St. Helena. We went to the hot springs one day and for a short hike another day, greatly enjoying the green, fungal, mossiness of northern California spring.
The ridiculously tiny Westfall post office. I thought the handicapped parking designation seemed unnecessary.
Now, the girls and I are staying in Bozeman while Josh is in Circle working on the house we are going to be living in there. We have been having lots of play dates and enjoying the rest after so much travel. The only pictures I've taken here in Bozo are of Hadley's new haircut. With the dry climate, her worn out baby hair was pretty stringy, so we got it clipped.
