Eclectic Update

Going way-y-y-y-y back to Hadley's birthday tea party on Dec. 21st, here are the girls with their little friend Kayden.

Of course this kind of studiousness doesn't happen often, but it was cute while it lasted.
 Fast forward 3-4 months!!!
Cousins Owen and Oatus with Guildy and Hadley
Guildy the oldest cousin with Milli the youngest.

A lovely dress and hat Guildy fashioned for Hadley a few days ago.  Yes, it's spring here in CA, with enough foliage for a budding designer to work with:o)
A couple weeks ago, Guildy spent the week with her grandma, so Hadley and I had to have a project. It all started with  a completely unplanned impulse buy of 4 wool skirts at the thrift store. In all I think we spent $12 at the thrift store on all the materials for our little couch quilt. Hadley helped make up the pattern and carried pieces back and forth while I sewed them together.

Last summer, I bought this AMAZING little 1940's sewing machine at the same thrift store for $7.  Josh wired it up with a new electrical cord, and I ordered a new throat plate from a place that sells parts for old Singers and their Japanese knockoffs (which is what mine is). Fortunately, from what I can read, the knockoffs were often of better quality that he original Singers. It took off and hasn't given me a bit of trouble. I can honestly say I've never sworn it. That's a big deal for me.
A lady we know used to life in Alaska and still has the fur hat to prove it.
How's that for a random and eclectic update on the Browning clan?!
