Guildy last weekend at the Bambu waterfall, getting ready to jump. In action!The water was pretty cold and fast moving for Hadley's taste, but there is a nice sandy spot, so she was happy.A quick pic before we left. Our outing got shortened a bit because the visiting mom of one of the doctors fell and dislocated her elbow. I was highly sympathetic of her situation. The girls at the beach with Judy, a visiting pediatrician who was here for a month. The girls adored her!

Browning Girls

People often ask who Talby looks like. I'm not really sure, other than that she looks like she belongs to us. She has hair like Guildy did and sleep patters alot like Guildy. She's pretty strong and wiry and has eyes kind of like Hadley. But she has a very prominent chin dimple and some hilarious facial expressions all her own. And she is unimaginably content, which is such a nice feature in a 3rd child!

Everyday Images

My lovely neighbor Liz on her "quatromoto" with little Reina. She and her sister Maria are at the Children's Centre for 4 months getting treated for malnutrition. Guildy and big Reina. Riding doubles is an essential Honduran skill.Luis got burned on his legs about a month ago, and he can't go to school yet, so Guildy considers it her personal responsibility to hang out with him when she is done with her school in the mornings. She doesn't want him to get too bored being home in the Children's Centre with just the little kids.Laundry on our porch. We don't have a drier, so when it rains, this is where I dry it. It takes about two days to dry in rainy weather.

We recently aquired a reasonably priced car, which is quite a rarity in Honduras. It belonged to a friend of one of the Honduran guys Josh works with. It's an '89 Jeep Cherokee, so we lovingly call it the Cherokee Princess, since it hauls around a lot of princesses.

What Josh Did This Morning

Every day at lunch, the girls and I ask Josh, "So what did you do this morning?" Today, his response was something like this:

"Well, Iain needed to take some people to the airport, but the alternator in his Land Cruiser went belly up. So he went to borrow Dr. Renee's Land Cruiser. Unfortunately, a quick check of the front end revealed that the wheels were about to fall off (a suprisingly common occurence here in the land of really rough roads). So he borrowed someone elses' pickup up and set out. Then Mike came to work with his Land Cruiser, which had turned up with a bad tire. So we tooke the tires and rims of Iain's dead vehicle and put them on the front of Mike's so he could go to town to pick up a work team this afternoon."

Who knows what he's been up to this afternoon!

Dirt

Out behind the Children's Centre is a pile of red clay dirt about 4 feet high. It is slated to become the clay stove and wind break for the yet-to-be-built outdoor kitchen. For now, it's the funnest place to play for miles around. This evening Guildy and Hadley came in completely filthy, but very excited about their afternoon of fun with all the other kids. Apparently at some point, they added water to the mix and started sledding down the pile on pieces of cardboard. Guildy was excitedly telling all about it, but then added, "Yah, but there was one really bumpy spot where we had to put rocks to cover up the cow poop." That's my girls:o)

On our way to FL a few weeks ago, we had to stay overnight in San Pedro Sula to catch an early flight. After stopping at our first hotel choice, Josh came back with the report that a group of students was staying there, so it was all full. She and I had the following conversation:

Hadley: Do you know what 'student' means?

Me: Tell me.

Hadley: Poop.

Me (already laughing): Really?

Hadley (head bobbing confidently): Yah, horse poop!
