On Monday, Josh, Hadley, and I journeyed via plane to Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, for our meeting with the US embassy to get Hadley's passport and birth certificate. We got there several hours early, so we had a little time to look around downtown before our meeting. We toured the national art museum, which contained a variety of work by 19th, 20th, and 21st century artists, as well as an extensive display of ancient Mayan art in the form of ceremonial and common use pottery.
We also walked through a building (pictured below) built in the early 1800s that is now a government building. We didn't catch all the details of its history, but the Spanish architecture was amazing.
Aside from nearly freezing to death in the Teguc airport on the way home, we had a great trip. Everything was fine with our paper work at the embassy, so we should have a passport in about 2 weeks, for which we are very thankful! We didn't take Guildy along because we didn't want to pay for an extra plane ticket, and we didn't figure she'd have much fun anway. So that was her first overnight stay with someone else. Of course, being the rather unattached extrovert that she is, she had a great time and didn't want to come home from Miss Maggie's house.

Hip Hip Hooray!!! Your child now exists as a proper U.S. citizen. I bet she's ecstatic =)
